Hello and Happy Monday,
What a time away. I arrived home yesterday and took the day to do laundry, nap, and connect with Joe. This morning was back to reality as I stepped back into the studio and taught the 9:30 am class. It felt so good to return to teaching after so much time away focusing on being a student.
How do I even start to talk about my time in Rishikesh? Honestly, I don't know. I guess could start by listing all the places I visited, all the smells, all the colors, all the cows, all the temples. But my words wouldn't do it justice.
Many people throughout the west have called going to India a pilgrimage. I went on this trip knowing no one. Our lead guide, Hanuman, was thoughtful, patient, kind, and helpful. He told us stories, shared history, and gave us endless support as we adjusted to the time difference, winding roads, and troubled tummies. Our yoga was led by MC Yogi, yes, the hip-hop artist, yogi, and spiritual storyteller - and of course he provided endless entertainment every day. His friend and assistant, Surendar, is someone I formed an instant connection with. Re-Learning on this trip how important surrendering is for me personally, having Surendar there to help remind me.
Truly this was a pilgrimage for me, but only because I met incredible people and experienced Rishikesh with them. Sharing in our excitement for all things yoga created something really special.
I'm still processing all India has given me. I already miss the sound of The Ganges, that lulled me to sleep every night, that held my presence through daily meditation, that was the backdrop through all our chanting and signing and laughing.
I'm glad to be back with a renewed sense of self.
I hope you join me on the mat soon, at least to see my henna hands, they are fading fast!
With Love and Gratitude,
Jess
